Ghost Story Prompts and meta

Change of plans, folks. Given the fact that Ghost Story spoilers are supposedly already floating around the web and the fact that there's an early limited release at Comic Con this weekend, we're going to start a Ghost Story specific post.

All GS related prompts, fills, discussion and meta go here so as to not spoil your fellow fans (at least the ones that don't want to be :D). All fills should follow posting guidelines, with the exception of GS meta going to the meta/discussion post. Questions? Ask the mods.

Harry Dresden is made entirely of chocolate!

Weeeell, what did you think about the shooters identity? It felt really fitting to me, both who did it and why. One of those times Butcher's writing just clicked "yesplz" in my head.

So: Childs. He was set up as a Name with an Appearance but never really showed up in the story after his initial deployment. Obviously he's being set up for a larger role in the books to come.

He's also much more notable in appearance than the troubleshooter we met in Aftermath. So, is he being set up as Super Evil or more a mercenary type like Kinkaid?

One of the things that got me the most were the memories of Harry's life with Justin. Especially the 'fight' with He Who Walks Behind.

So, the belief that everyone's (Harry) been working on is that HWWB was working for Justin and tried to kill Harry. But given the way the fight went, it does look more like HWWB was more interested in testing Harry, in driving him to a specific response and reaction. He wanted Harry to be ready to react with violence to threats first, rather than running away or trying to find another solution.

I'm ~~torn between~~ thinking that HWWB is just using Harry as a really big blunt instrument to help the master plan to return the Outsiders to this reality and thinking that there's more to this whole 'Outsider-bane' thing, where it could actually be used for the Outsiders somehow. Eh. I'm not even really torn between them. I think both are true.

Okay, the obvious one: I want the story after Changes and before Ghost Story where Harry and John have been in some sort of relationship, and John is going after Harry's killer. And his investigations somehow get him to either Kincaid or Molly, who end up telling him the whole story.

Woah. I'm doing my second read through now and...I don't know what to think about Murphy. I've liked her in all the books, even when she and Harry fight for stupid reasons, but this time it's just been strange.

Thomas wasn't mentioned because Harry was trying to repress him, but Murphy's shown a strange line to draw among Harry's allies. For the most part they're greater number but closer to the vanilla mortals, while Thomas and Molly are still supernaturally consorting.

Any Murphy thoughts?

That's all. Just what it says on the tin. Maybe on a ride along, or whatever. But I can't be the only one thinking this!

Siince Harry is now for real the new Winter Knight I want peoples opinions on what you think will happen with Mister and Bob.

I know Mab has an issue with Bob. I know Mister was pleased to see Ghost Harry.

Do you think Harry will take them back or leave them with their current guards?

Anyway, thoughts please? ^__^

Do you think he'll be involved with her? Will he be cool uncle Harry? Hell, to answer that we'd need to come to a conclusion about who all will know he's alive. Will he live in Chicago again? I feel like he might not. He might just travel, doing Knight stuff. But if he DOES stay in Chicago, it seems like someone would manage to figure out that he's Maggie's dad and use her against him, so it kind of defeats the purpose of Maggie having a different family.

To escape a Chicago where everything reminds him of Dresden, Marcone goes to Italy where he drowns his sorrows in wine and pasta and sleeps with many tall, handsome young men while Hendricks and Gard roll their eyes.

An appearance by Childs might be interesting, as well.

In GS, Harry describes the Archangels by comparing them to various jobs.
"If Gabriel is an ambassador, if Michael is a general, if Raphael is a healer and spiritual champion, the Uriel is a spymaster-Heaven's spook."

I guess I'd just like to see these explored in more detail. Possibly with the inclusion of how Lucifer fit into all that, before he Fell.

Harry has to spend some time getting acclimated to Knighthood. The first time Mab turns him loose is to accompany Maeve to an Accords meeting.

Reactions from Marcone and Ivy would be loved. Also, Maeve's treatment of her new Knight.

Kincaid's reaction to getting that call from Harry.

What if Marcone was in Italy for business involving the Vatican... and the Denarian coin Gard picked up ages ago? And he's only using it now because he lost Harry?

I probably just watched too much White Collar between Changes and Ghost Story, but if there were a movie or another TV show, I would so want Willie Garson to play Mort. I just think he'd do the 'unprepossessing until suddenly bad-ass' transition well.

Anyone have other "ooh!" casting ideas while reading GS?

(I'd also say I want Tilda Swinton as Mab but that might be type-casting.)

So. Maggie Jr. and Mouse are at the Carpenters. It really shouldn't be much of a surprise, considering that their place is probably the strongest, most protected place on earth. Thresholds and guardian angels and everything.
What I want to see is everyone dealing with the aftermath of Changes, but more focused on the Carpenters. How Michael deals with his daughter going half-insane and everything, living in a fucked up Chicago and more importantly, dealing with Little Maggie. Trying to help her adjust and everything, while all the time dealing with Harry's death because damn, Maggie resembles her father so much it just hurts

Because it would be awesome.

Bonus for seeing Harry's reaction to this.

Double bonus for them spatting over how Harry is to be treated.

And imagine the fight over which one gets Harry if/~~when~~ they split up!

So Harry was in Bob's skull, yeah?

Well, Bob said something about differences in time between the real world and his "apartment."

Well, we all know that he likes Harry a lot, (case in point: their trips to the drive-in and evil!Bob's desire for a relationship with him) and theoretically they had quite a bit of time on their hands.

So they finally are together in the (kinda) phsical form. What happens?

Obviously, I'm leaning towards slash, but I'm cool if it's just them watching Star Wars on Bob's TV, or having a manly heart to heart.

Okay, so I know that Mr. Butchner has said that he doesn't know who the swords are going to yet, but I think I know who Micheal's sword should go to.

Molly has been having some issues in the sanity department. No one really trusts her and she wound up going past the Moral Event Horizon.

What if Harry/Murphy gave her the sword?

Hear me out. Micheal's sword is the sword of Faith, right? Well, maybe all she needs is for someone to have Faith in her to do the Right Thing. The sword could start to heal that wound, as well as protect her from the White Council- who wouldn't go after a Knight of the Cross- and give her a different way to fight for the innocents in Chicago.

I'm open to a fic where this happens, but mostly I want to know what my fellow fans think.

Obviously he's in fandom.

Art? Mixing? Fic? Being a bastard on the ONTD? What fandoms? What pairings? What kinks? Does he have a secret love for G-rated fluff and gen?

The Better Future Society was built on the ruins of Harry's apartment. If they decided to make a bunker deep underground, they would've found Lasciel's coin - in a super-protected box, of course. So! What happens next?

Murphy/Georgia/Billy. There's a new alpha in the pack, whether she can get fuzzy or not. Billy & Georgia don't mind at all.

So. We all know what happened to Fitz. He's a young man with talent in the (presumably) ghost-ly part of the town. He may or may not have more significant mojo, but he spent some time with an abusive 'guardian' (Aris-something, I don't bother to remember) who also has some talent, and was instrumental in his downfall. Hmm. Where have we heard that before. Oh, that's right, Harry. His backstory has some delightful parallels to Harry Dresden, as I'm sure you've all realized.
What goes a bit deeper, though, is some of his, albeit not very prominent, parallels to Marcone. Yes, that's right. Fitz considers his crew to be a part of his family, and acts as their leader. He's utterly loyal to them, a natural leader, intelligent, and capable of keeping a cold head on his shoulder in the time of crisis. Am I the only one who sees some similarity to Marcone here? ~~I probably am~~
The way I see it, there are two (or more) ways Fitz can go after this. First ~~and frankly, I consider it to be the least possible~~ way, he can find a nice apprenticeship with a White Council wizard, if his talent is strong enough, and become a wizard himself. Problem is, the White Council is probably too busy with the Fomor to have a wizard waste his/her time with an apprentice. We don't even know whether he's strong enough. The only thing we know is that he can hear ghosts, like Harry, to a minor degree. ~~and why waste so much potential to be the WC's lackey? He's way too awesome, and I don't think he likes being tied down like that~~
The second way, which would be a lot better for him and for storytelling purposes *grin* is for him to join a street gang and eventually, the Outfit. Look, he's proven himself to be a competent leader, has a group that's completely loyal to him, and he's also intelligent. Given a few years, he could easily be a pre-Marcone-ish figure. He'd be an asset for the Outfit (if not effectively taking it over after Marcone dies), plus he has some magic talent. Why would Marcone let so much potential go to waste? Can't you just see Marcone grooming him to be his future successor, partly because he's so much like himself but he also reminds him of Harry?
But, hey. Just my two cents here.
