Erm. I don't know what the etiquette on posting non-DF images on this meme is, so I won't be adding my "omg yay" GIFs to this reply, but please do picture vigorous appreciative flailing, hereabouts. :)

So yeah. It's a lovely story, and you're lovely for writing it. Post!Canon Harry being in a place where he can have fun, laughing, fumbling teasing sex with someone/something is tricky to bring off, I'd think. And 'Reach developing a taste for marshmallows was hilarious. BRIEF HUMANS HAVE DEVELOPED STRANGELY. NO LONGER IS IMBUING PSYCHO-ACTIVE CARCINOGENS THE TOKEN GESTURE OF KINSHIP AND PEACE, ROASTING STICKY ARTIFICIAL SWEETMEATS IS NOW ACCEPTABLE. ALTHOUGH THIS ONE SEEMS RETICENT TOWARDS GARDENING, WE WILL WIN HIM OVER YET. PERHAPS WITH JIMSONWEED.

Marcone's POV of Dresden is, as always, interesting. It's a good question whether this Harry has really changed, or just wound down from his hang-ups and hurts and had some actual time to breathe.

You do have to go a little *handwavey*, he's more comfortable with himself and with nonhuman entities because of everything that happened *redacted for GS stuff* and beyond. Or you could just assume that he's repressing with greater success this time! Or that spending time with Demonreach and having that second perspective running through his head all the time has made him notice and appreciate things in a different way than he did when he was stuck in just his own head.

*laughs* Then, when Harry comes back complaining about some Accords meeting that went awry, Demonreach will stick a bag of marshmallows in his pack for the next one. To help spread peace.

Harry has a place to belong to, a place to call his own turf again - and a place that most definitely considers Harry its own, too. I think, sometimes, that his heartsickness in canon comes at least from that he hasn't allowed himself a homestead where there are other people (or personages, if you will) who actually want him back, like having him around and get tetchy if he plays hooky on his commitments. Mister is well capable of fending for himself, and Mouse might wear a dog's body but isn't dependant on Harry at all. 'Reach isn't going to be wringing its vine-y appendages in despair if he doesn't get back on time, but he'd really, really ought to, otherwise it Is Not As It Should Be. And I think Harry needs that, even if he's not capable of acknowledging it himself (because of the same thing that he seems to have about marriage: it isn't for rotten questionable people like him, he isn't good enough).

There's that, you're right. The sense that 'this is MINE' that Harry gets to have about Demonreach. I'd argue that Mister would miss Harry. He just expresses his emotions in cat fashion. Which involves a lot of being seemingly unaffected by anything that you do. Mouse definitely worries about Harry, but his help is somewhat limited in many respects due to his shape. Demonreach is limited as well, but is at least able to interact with Harry in a shape that appears humanoid. Which likely makes Harry more comfortable and puts him on more familiar footing in that respect.

Demonreach = scariest wife/mother/nurturer EVER
