Community Casting


How it works:

1. Reply to the character's comment with your ideal casting choice. (If there's no comment yet, go ahead and make one.)

2. Or ideal choices, but please keep it to one choice a reply.

3. Include contextual information if you'd like, include a description of the character if you'd like to remind everyone. The more you can share the better; but if you want your choice to speak for itself, that's fine too.

4. No holds barred: your choice doesn't have to be an actor, doesn't have to be the right age right now, doesn't have to be living. Go chromatic if you'd like, play with gender if you'd like, if you want to cast a character at a different age, go for it.

5. You must include an alt attribute and/or a description following your images/links. Want some help? Read here. eta: If you forget, you'll get one reminder and a chance to repost. After a couple days, any

6. Keep your image sizes reasonable, please. That's to your own discretion, of course, but remember that people are viewing this on all sizes of devices. You don't want to make them scroll. Whenever I think of Marcone I think of Adrian Pasdar. He has that Italian American look (although I know he isn't) and I think he would be amazing as a mobster with his vague sleaziness (that's probably not quite the right word), which isn't too over the top, which is important for an ambiguous character like our Johnny Marcone.

Pasdar was my first mental image for Marcone, actually. Now it's a weird mix of Pasdar, Jeffrey Donovan, and Gabriel Macht. IDK. BUT YES, I do totally see it.

GABRIEL MACHT. I was just about to say. If he was aged up a bit, he'd be perfect. I blame Suits. If I hadn't seen him in a three-piece it would have never crossed my mind.

Efram Zimbalist Jr. He's more than a bit too old now, but in his prime (The FBI story) he really looked the part, and I've never heard anyone sound so sincere, and paternal, when apologizing for the necessity of causing someone's death (playing William Edgars in Babylon 5).

It's hard to tell from his expression if he's being serious, being quietly amused, or both.



Another headshot. In this picture, he has grey hair mixed with the dark (though the dark predominates) and he's wearing a black jacket with a white shirt and black necktie. He looks as if he has just turned to identify something that he either spotted out of the corner of his eye or heard. His expression says that he doesn't much like what he's seen or heard, either.

He's about twenty-five years younger in this picture, which is a still from the 1986 movie Something Wild. He's leaning against the rippled metal door of what looks like a garage or or a warehouse. He's wearing a white T-shirt which is a little too small, because it's pulled up in the front--not much, just enough to see a strip of his abdomen-- and his arms are crossed as he stares at the camera. His upper right arm has a tattoo--a skull next to a Valentine heart, and a dagger being driven into both simultaneously. His belt is black, is trimmed with silver studs and silver weave, and has a huge, roundish buckle that looks vaguely as if he picked it up in a souvenir shop in the American Southwest. His jeans are bright blue with shiny copper studs on the pockets; I'd swear those jeans are brand new.

I've always pictured him as a slightly less gray Mark Harmon. And by always, I mean since Last year when I watched all 7 (at the time) seasons of NCIS in a weekend because the snow cancelled my classes for a couple days.

I was watching Person of Interest the other day and realized that Jim Caviezel (the guy who plays Reese) would make an excellent Marcone if only he had green eyes.

I also had the same thought when I saw Person of Interest. And interestingly enough, there are some scenes where you can see that his eyes are a very washed out grey-green... just like faded dollar bills!

Oh wow, yeah! Especially after watching episode 6 of Person of Interest where he is quietly infatuated/impressed despite himself with that lady; that would be perfect for Marcone's reaction to Harry! And his ability to portray quiet menace and superiority. I can so see it!

French actor Alain Delon. In real life, he is a mysogitic jerk (sorry) but he is the cutest yet fiercest thing ever, even a bit past his prime. He played a lot of mafioso roles, and at more than sixty he still looks badass.
